Distant Cousin Connections

44

On May 19, 2020, Jochen Homann of Bonn, Germany emailed me noting that in the Kirmse Family Tree on Ancestry, “Dierck Brunkhorst is – if I’m right – my 6th-great grandfather”.  In  the Kirmse Family Tree, Dierck Brunkhorst (1659-1743) is my 8th great-uncle. Hence, Dierck’s father, Johann Brunkhorst (1621-1692), is our common ancestor .

Jochen provided the following screen shots of his relationship to Dierck Brunkhorst :

Relationship figure 1

Using Jochen’s above relationship to Dierck Brunkhorst and the Kirmse Family Tree records,  we are 8th cousins 1x removed as is shown in the following relationship chart:

Jochen and I have continued to correspond in reviewing our family trees with the purpose of making both of our family trees more complete and correct. It turns out that there are multiple relationships between us. According to the current Kirmse Family Tree on Ancestry, Jochen is also my 7th cousin 1x removed as is shown in the following relationship chart.
