Margaretha Meÿer and Heinrich Cordes, the parents of my grandmother, Martha Margaretha (Cordes) Kirmse, immigrated to Perry County, Missouri, USA from the Parish Scheeßel in the district of Rotenburg, in Lower Saxony, Germany. This book is a summary of the results of family research to learn about Martha Margaretha (Cordes) Kirmse’s relatives of Scheeßel heritage.

Structure of the Book

What you will find in the sections of this book are:

Background Information

Brief descriptive histories of the Scheeßel and Wenkeloh from which my Scheeßel relatives emigrated.

Related Family Immigrations

Ship passenger manifests are presented and reviewed to document how and when the related Scheeßel families immigrated to New Orleans, New York and Baltimore and then to Perry County, Missouri.

Family Photo Album

Photographs of relatives of Scheeßel heritage. Most are from photo albums prepared by Martha Margaretha (Cordes) Kirmse.

Family History Research Summary

The research results that Norma (Kirmse) Rauh collected and cataloged were used as the starting point of this family research project. The information was analyzed and extended. An ancestor report for Martha Margaretha (Cordes) Kirmse summarizes the results of this family research.

Research for Ancestors

Details and documentation of the family ancestor research are presented in a second volume of this book. (Under Development)

By including the related document images and photographs along with analysis and stories, it is my hope to not only preserve these documents, but also provide a vehicle for sharing them with relatives and anyone else who might be interested.

Long Range Plans

This is an e-book and is considered a work in progress that can be easily edited/updated as more family information is found. If anyone knows of related family information, I would like to learn of and obtain the same so that the stories and images can also be included.

The comment boxes will be open during the book development. If you find errors or have suggestions, please use the comment box at the end of each chapter. All comments will be appreciated that will help develop and improve this book on Scheeßel Relatives.
